The Story Behind the Bandana:
Two Rode Together Wardrobe Co.'s researched all the films the “Searchers” bandana has appearanced in and they discovered that Sam Elliott wore the same pattern bandana in the Western film “The Sacketts” as well as the Louis L’Amour Classic “The Quick and the Dead!”
Legendary Hollywood Costumer, Luster Bayless confirmed that the Duke’s bandana was used in later films after being “washed down” with a darker dye to give it an aged look. Mr. Bayless had the fortune to first work with John Wayne on McClintock and continued to be his personal costumer through to the end of his career. Sam Elliott also chose Mr. Bayless to do his personal wardrobe for all of his Western films.
Individually hand-dyed and aged, the “Sackett” bandana measures 32” x 32” - silk/cotton blend. Hand wash or gentle cycle. Line dry.
